Approximately thirteen years ago, the principals of Mallory & Evans Development, John Dixon and Dave Garrett, predicted that the aviation industry would soon be facing a capital liquidity crisis that would inhibit the airlines’ ability to build modern facilities. They foresaw the need for large, financially strong private sector developers, experienced and trusted by the industry that would be capable of developing and financing facilities of every size and type for airlines and airports.

In addition to maintaining and growing Mallory & Evans to meet this challenge, for nine years, John Dixon and Dave Garrett constituted one-half of the ownership of Airis Corporation and its successor company, Airis Holdings, which was the world’s largest private developer of aviation facilities. They collectively held the titles of Chairman and President/CEO for Airis. A number of the projects described herein were developed under the Airis name.

During the 2002, it was concluded that there were vastly different visions among the owners of Airis of what that company should be doing in the future. Since the company was completing construction at JFK, the company’s business would soon be centered primarily on asset management. It was a good time to transition the company, so Dave Garrett and John Dixon sold their interest in Airis allowing them to focus solely on the Mallory & Evans companies and an expanded vision of how their experience could be employed on a broader variety of project types.
